In a statement signed by Mr Gbenga Aruleba, a family representative, Ogunlusi passed away in the early hours of Saturday at the age of 91, following a brief illness.

Aruleba said ‘Papa Jola,’ as he was fondly called, lived a fulfilled life devoted to serving both humanity and God.

“From his days as a journalist in the 1970s to becoming NUJ National Secretary, he exemplified dedication and fairness,” he said.

Aruleba noted Ogunlusi’s strong commitment to equity, justice, and sincerity in all his duties.

He described him as kind, loving, and caring toward family, colleagues, acquaintances, and the wider public

Ogunlusi once served as President of the Festac Town Residents Association, contributing to the creation of Amuwo Odofin Local Council Development Area.
