Flying Eagles battle German club in friendly

The Flying Eagles of Nigeria will on Monday afternoon battle against a German non-league Feldmoching in an international friendly aimed at preparing the national Under-20 team for the FIFA World Cup.

The match will kick off 2.30pm local time.

The four-hour bus ride outside the little village of Elfershausen with a population of less than 2,000 people will be a welcome relief for the team.

On Friday, a 30-man provisional squad for the World Cup was announced with six foreign-based professionals included.

The Nigeria U20s have been in Germany for a week now and drew 1-1 in their first test game on Wednesday against the Nurnberg U23s.

Meanwhile, the team’s training camp bubbled at the weekend when the players took delivery of the full compliment of their kits from kit sponsors adidas.

The Flying Eagles are billed to depart for France on Monday, May 27, to feature at the Toulon International Tournament, which will serve as a litmus test ahead of the FIFA U20 World Cup in Turkey next month.

They are drawn in Group B alongside Brazil, Portugal, Mexico and Belgium.
