In continuation of its ongoing far-reaching corporate transformation, First Bank of Nigeria Limited has announced the appointment of Mr. Adetokunbo Mukhail Abiru as Executive Director, subject to the approval of Central Bank of Nigeria. He will drive the Corporate Banking business of the Bank.
The appointment of Abiru, until recently the Lagos State Commissioner for Finance, according to a statement by the bank, is geared towards enriching the capacity of the Executive Management and Board, by deepening specialization and strengthening the corporate governance culture.
He is a Chartered Accountant and seasoned banker who is coming on the board with his varied skills and well-rounded work experience in both public and private sectors.

A Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountant of Nigeria (FCA) and Honorary Senior Member, The Chartered Institute of Bankers of Nigeria (HCIB) with extensive experience in banking and consulting spanning over 20 years, Abiru holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Economics from Lagos State University. He also attended various executive management programmes in top rated business schools including Lagos Business School and Harvard Business School.
His working career spans stints at Akintola Williams & Co (Chartered Accountants) and Guaranty Trust Bank Plc. He joined FirstBank in 2004 and was at various times the relationship Team Leader, Retail Banking; Business Development Manager, Lagos (Ikeja1); and Group Head, Corporate Banking.
He is married with children.
