The Commandant of the Armed Forces Command and Staff College (AFCSC) Jaji, AVM Hassan Alhaji, says the Federal Government is committed to easing Nigerians from daily life burden occasioned by the prevailing economic hardship.
Alhaji said this while addressing newsmen at the end of a field exercise code named “Exercise Ubiak-Isin”, for the members of Junior Course 96.
The exercise witnessed free medical outreach and palliatives distribution to the Jaji military cantonment’s host community.
Ubiak-Isin is a bi-annual exercise organised by the AFCSC to assess students understanding of Counter Terrorism and Counter Insurgency Operations.
Alhaji said the college was keen about the well-being of aborigines in the military cantonment, which called for the college’s frequent exercise of corporate social responsibility.
He described the Jaji military cantonment as ‘big chunk’ of Kaduna State, adding that the medical retreat and palliatives distribution to its host communities were aimed at informing the locals that the college was there for them.
The commandant said the exercise was expected to make the participants better officers, by applying all their knowledge
He explained that Ubiak Isin was a tactical field exercise, adding that it culminated the 20 weeks of the presentation of the new knowledge, interactions with actual field commanders and a wide spectrum of assessment by the directing staff.
Alhaji also explained that the overall objective of exercise was to consolidate the knowledge of the students, sharpen their creative thinking and combat skill sets.
Speaking further, the commandant said the exercise was not only meant for only members of the armed forces of Nigeria, but also defense related agencies, Red Cross and NEMA .
“The Red Cross and NEMA, also used the opportunity of the exercise to train their personnel so as to sharpen their skills sets in order to enhance on their set objectives, ”he said.
Alihaji urged the students to ensure value addition to the security architecture of the country in their respective units, commands and theatres of operation after leaving the college.
The highpoint of the exercise was a demonstration of military acumen, cordon, search and rescue as well as the evacuation of victims of a bomb attack.
The cantonment’s host communities that benefited from the AFCSC’s palliatives and medical outreach included Wusono-Anguwan Loya and Camp Salaya General Area, Igabi Local Government Area.
