Nigerian music star Peter Okoye, popularly known as Mr P, has sparked widespread reactions online after announcing a change to the date he celebrates his birthday.

The singer, formerly one-half of the iconic P-Square duo alongside his twin brother Paul Okoye (Rudeboy), revealed via his X (formerly Twitter) account that he will no longer mark his birthday on November 18.

Instead, Mr P stated that he will now celebrate his birthday on November 30, citing personal reasons for the decision.

In his message to fans, friends, and family, the artist emphasised that he would not acknowledge greetings or gifts sent on the former date moving forward.

The announcement has generated intense debate across social media platforms, with fans expressing a mix of support, confusion, and criticism.

While some followers backed his decision as a personal choice, others questioned the possibility of altering a birth date, especially one shared with a twin.

Several users highlighted the emotional aspect of the development, linking it to the ongoing strained relationship between the Okoye brothers.

The long-standing rift between Peter and Paul Okoye has been a topic of public discussion for years, with repeated calls from fans for reconciliation.

P-Square, once one of Africa’s most successful music groups, dominated the industry in the late 2000s and early 2010s with chart-topping hits such as “Personally,” “Chop My Money,” and “Alingo.”

The duo first parted ways in 2017 before reuniting in 2021, much to the excitement of fans across the continent.

However, the reunion was short-lived, as the group split again in 2024 following renewed disagreements reportedly linked to financial issues involving their former manager, Jude Okoye.

The latest development has reignited conversations about the brothers’ relationship, with many fans hoping for eventual reconciliation despite ongoing tensions.
