Fani-Kayode Slams Dele Momodu Over Criticism of Tinubu

Nigeria’s ambassador-designate, Chief Femi Fani-Kayode, has criticised media entrepreneur and politician  Dele Momodu over his recent remarks about President Bola Tinubu, urging him to refrain from attacking the administration.

Fani-Kayode made the remarks in a statement issued on Thursday in Abuja, responding to comments made by Momodu during a television interview and subsequent public statements.

Momodu, a chieftain of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), had earlier compared President Tinubu’s leadership style to that of former military ruler Gen. Sani Abacha during an appearance on Channels Television.

Reacting, Fani-Kayode described the comparison as inappropriate and unfair, stating that the comments misrepresented the current administration.

The former Minister of Aviation also alleged that Momodu had benefited from a long-standing relationship with Tinubu but had failed to support him politically.

He urged Momodu to stop criticising the president and focus on his own political path, adding that continued attacks would no longer be ignored.

Fani-Kayode further described Momodu’s recent response to criticism from himself and fellow ambassador-designate Reno Omokri as overly emotional and lacking substance.

Momodu had earlier responded by accusing both men of lacking credibility and acting in bad faith.

In his latest statement, Fani-Kayode warned that he would no longer remain silent in the face of what he described as repeated misrepresentations and personal attacks.

He reaffirmed his support for President Tinubu, noting that he actively campaigned during the 2023 elections and remains committed to the administration’s reform agenda.

According to him, the government’s policies are essential for Nigeria’s long-term stability and economic progress.

Fani-Kayode also criticised opposition groups, suggesting they lack the capacity to offer credible leadership or governance alternatives.

He maintained that the ongoing reforms initiated since 2023 are in Nigeria’s national interest and should be supported.

The exchange between both political figures has sparked broader debate within Nigeria’s political space, highlighting divisions between supporters of the ruling government and opposition voices.
