Reports on Thursday from Buckingham Palace, said Britain’s royal family planned to invite 10,000 people to a huge street party to celebrate Queen Elizabeth’s 90th birthday in 2016.
It said Peter Phillips, the queen’s 37-year old grandson, was the party organiser.
It said the party would take place along The Mall, the avenue leading to Buckingham Palace, the queen’s official residence in London.

Phillip said the queen was excited by the prospect of the party on June 12.

He said most of those invited to the Patron’s Lunch would come from the 600 charities and other organisations supported by the queen.

Phillips said the party was to reflect her service to humanity, organisations and charities, and to provide the opportunity for her patronages and other communities around the country to say thank you.

He said the queen and other senior members of the royal family are scheduled to attend the lunch.

Phillips said a service to mark the queen’s birthday was planned in London’s St Paul’s Cathedral on June 10, launching a weekend of celebrations.

He said several events are also planned in May, including four at Windsor Castle, another royal residence west of London.
