Ex-FUTA VC not abducted; killed by driver, gateman; body dumped in car park

Seven days after he was declared missing and family members were still expecting to hear from his abductors to pay ransom, the body of former Vice Chancellor of the Federal University of Technology, Akure (FUTA), Prof. Albert Ilemobade, was discovered on Sunday in the car park of his Akure, Ondo State residence.
He was killed by his driver, Yemi and gateman, Daniel.
After killing him in his bedroom, they took the body to the car park and poured diesel on it so that the odour of the decomposing body could not be detected on time.
They were arrested in Ogun State while trying to sell the former Vice Chancellor’s car.
After the discovery, people wept openly at the residence of the former Vice Chancellor.
Speaking on behalf of the family, Venerable Ayodeji Fagbemi said some policemen from Ogun State Police Command called him after the church service that he should come to the Ijapo, Akure residence of the late don.
When he got there with some people, he met Yemi and Daniel leading police detectives to the car park where they dumped the body.
“They (driver and gateman) confessed that they were the ones that killed the late Vice Chancellor and poured diesel on him so that the odour of the decomposing body could not be detected on time. Policemen had removed the remains to the mortuary for further investigation,” Fagbemi said.
One of the family members said: “When the policemen came, the driver and gateman said they went to the bedroom of Prof Ilemobade in the night, killed him, took his remains to the car park and poured diesel of him. Then, they made away with his car and it was in the process of trying to sell the car at Ogun State that they were arrested by the police”.
