The Kogi High Court Judge, Justice Samuel Obayomi, who was abducted on May 25, has been released by the kidnappers, after spending 34 days in their custody.
State Police Commissioner, Mr Samuel Ogunjemilusi, confirmed the release of the Judge on Sunday in Lokoja, the state capital.
He revealed that Obayomi was released Saturday night between 10 and 11:30.
Ogunjemilusi, who could not say where and how the judge was released, or if any ransom was paid, however disclosed that the victim was yet to be released to his family, but had been taken to a safe place.
Chief Judge of the state, Justice Nasir Ajanah, who also confirmed the release, expressed gratitude to God.
“We thank God for his release but I cannot give you more information than you already have,” he said.
Justice Obayomi, the resident High Court Judge of Ebogogo in Adavi Local Government of Kogi State, was kidnapped on his way to the office on Monday, May 25, at 8:45 am, by a three-member gang, all dressed in black.
The victim, whose police orderly, Cpl Usman Musa, was shot dead on the spot, was driven away in his Toyota Yaris car from the spot in GRA, Okene,.
The abductors had demanded N150 million ransom for his release.
It would also be recalled that before his abduction, the Judge had just been discharged from the hospital, after three months on admission, following his involvement in a fatal automobile accident.
