Enugu: Ugwuanyi swears-in two ENSIEC members, as deputy governor pledges support for rural dwellers

Enugu State Governor, Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi, has sworn-in Anthony Ugochukwu Ugwunnadi and George Obiora Ani as members of Enugu State Independent Electoral Commission (ENSIEC)

Swearing-in the new members, on Thursday in Government House, Enugu, Ugwuanyi, who was represented by his deputy, Mrs Cecilia Ezeilo, said that they were appointed to fill the vacuum created as a result of expiration of the tenure of two former members of the Commission.

He was optimistic that the state will benefit from the wealth of experience of the new members to further take ENSIEC to enviable heights in conducting credible, peaceful and transparent Local Government elections.

Ugwuanyi commended members of ENSIEC for upholding the mandate given to them over the years.

Responding on behalf of his colleague, Ani thanked Ugwuanyi for appointing them into the state’s electoral body. They promised to discharge their responsibilities diligently t and conduct credible and transparent Local Government elections in the state.

The state’s Solicitor-General and permanent secretary , ministry of Justice, Victor Emeribe, performed the swearing-in ceremony.
In attendance were the Secretary to the State Government (SSG), Prof. Simon Uchenna Ortuanya and some members of ENSIEC, among others.
Meanwhile, Mrs Ezeilo has pledged support for laudable programmes aimed at empowering the rural dwellers and the less priviledged in the state.

She gave the assurance when she received in audience, the winner and Queen of Ezeagu Local Government beauty peageant, Her Royal Majesty, Queen Okafor Uzoma, (Adaejiejemba na Ezeagu 2020/ 2021 ), who paid her courtesy visit in her office on Thursday, along other winners .

The deputy governor, who spoke in response to the request made by Queen Okafor, lauded the proposed pet project of the Queen which is centred on empowerment of the rural dwellers, , awareness creation for girls and supporting the less privilege.

Ezeilo said she would do everything to support the Queen . She called on public spirited individuals to support the younger ones, saying, “I will do everything to support you. I want other people to emulate Diamond Ononike, so that we can do something for our younger ones”

Earlier, Queen Uzoma intimated the deputy governor about her pet project which she said, ” It’s all about someone coming to serve his or her people.
She said she has a pet project which is aimed at
“empowerment of the rural dwellers,, awareness creation for girls and supporting the less privilege.”

Other winners of the peagant are Okoye Blessing (NnekwuadanaEzeagu 2020/2021), Uzoma Christina Nnoye(Adaoma 2020/2021) and Nnaezi Ijeoma, (Adadioranma),

The peagant started three years ago by Diamond Ononike with the support of Ohaneze Ndi Igbo.
Car prize was given to the winner.
The winner of the 2020/2021 edition also received a car.
