Enugu State House of Assembly has confirmed two commissioner-nominees, Eucharia Offor, former Commissioner for Finance and Emeka Mamah, former Special Assistant to Governor Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi on Transport.

The names of the nominees were presented to the House of Assembly by Ugwuanyi

The confirmation which took place at the plenary, following the adoption of a motion by Dr Emeka Ogbuabor, member representing Isi-Uzo constituency.

In his submission, Ogbuabor said: “I believe they will make good commissioners. I, therefore, move that they be confirmed as commissioners-designate,”

Contributing, member representing Ezeagu constituency, Chima Obieze, said: “The two nominees delved into the questions they were asked.”

Speaking on their performances in their most recent appointments, Offor said that while she was a commissioner, she made sure that the Single Treasury Account (TSA) worked. She added that a lot of money was saved for the state government as ghost workers were fished out through staff audit.

The former commissioner for finance who attributed the successes recorded in the state to prudent financial management, disclosed that “the State had lean resources but we were able to perform because we plugged leakages.”

On his part, Mamah said that though he only served for a year, his service was worthwhile as it was during his tenure that buses were presented to secondary schools in the State.

Their portfolios would be made known soon.
