Three shot as hunters resist kidnappers in Osun

Tragedy has struck at Ezikwe Akpugo of Nkanu-West Local Government Area of Enugu State, when a loaded gun exploded and killed 42-year-old Mrs Jacinta Nwobodo during the celebration of acquisition of a new masquerade.
Family sources disclosed that Mrs Nwobodo was killed by the gun ignited by one one Sunday Anieke Ngwu  and  his friends.
It was gathered  that Ngwu  invited an experienced gun man, Monday Ani Obodoeji, to shoot the guns.
Monday had ignited the loaded guns after lining them on the ground but one of the guns, which had become old and overused, exploded and pellets flew in various direction.
Mrs. Nwobodo was hit, leading to pandemonium in the vicinity.
Enugu State Police  Command Headquarters has confirmed  the incident.
The command said that  it was the second time such a case was being reported from the area within five days.
“We are aware that one Mr. Sunday Anieke Ngwu was celebrating his acquisition of a new masquerade with his friends when a canon gun exploded and killed one Jacinta Nwobodo, 42, instantly. This is the second time we are getting such ugly report from the same area within a period of five days. Our men will swing into action to unravel if the deceased was intentionally killed or whether it was by accident. It is  investigation that will reveal if there were  any ulterior motive or not.”
In the first week of December 2018 in the same  local government, a man killed his 48-year-old girlfriend, Nkemakonam Chinwuba, with a wooden door frame, following a slight quarrel before surrendering himself to the police on December 9.
