The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Enugu State has rolled out its timetable for the forthcoming February 29 Local Government elections.

According to the timetable, sales of forms is fixed for January 15, screening holds on 16th while January 17 is slated for appeal.

The timetable stated that Ward Congress to elect three-man delegates will hold on 18th while councillorship and chairmanship primaries are fixed for 20th and 21st respectively.

The state chairman, Augustine Nnamani, said that the forms would be available for everybody who feels he is qualified to contest each of the two positions.

Meanwhile, the leading opposition party in the state, the All Progressive Congress, APC, said it will participate in the elections if it has candidates willing to contest.

Statr chairman of the party, Dr. Ben Nwoye, said that “Political parties are meant to present candidates for elections but you don’t pull people out from their houses to run for elections. Contest is voluntary for those who want to.

He explained: “It is the job of the State Working Committee to organize primaries so we will be holding a meeting next week where the plan, mechanism, of how we are going to contest will be drawn out. People have been invited, information has been spread around for those who wish to contest to come and join the meeting.

According to him, “If we have people who want to contest, of-course we will present them to fly our flags. After the meeting on Thursday next week we will roll out our timetable. It all depends on the will of the people; if people want to contest on our platform they will be presented ,”he said.
