Governor Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi of Enugu State “has abandoned his seat and run away under the pretext of accompanying our dear President, Muhammadu Buhari, on his official visit to Poland”, the state chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has alleged.
APC Chairman in Enugu State, Pastor Ben Nwoye, accused the governor of running away from the demands of his office and travelling with Buhari on his official visit to Poland.
Welcoming members and support groups to the unveiling of the party’s governorship candidate, Senator Ayogu Eze’s manifesto at the APC State Secretariat, Ogui Road, Enugu, Pastor Nwoye said the degree of lobbying by Ugwuanyi, a PDP governor, to travel with Buhari, an APC president, “shows his lack of faith in his government and party, hence the decision to abdicate”.
He noted that rather than stay at home to solve the numerous problems facing his administration, especially crisis of confidence, “Ugwuanyi prefers to work his way into the President’s entourage to Poland still in his desperate moves to get APC’s leaders’ ears against their own governorship candidate in Enugu State”.
Describing this as the height of anti-party activities by a governor, Nwoye wondered why Ugwuanyi would abandon his party, the PDP, state and government and be hobnobbing with APC, where, he said, there is no vacancy for the embattled governor.
He assured members and supporters of the party that come May 2019, APC would form the government in Lion Building Enugu, stating that Senator Eze has a programme of action “that will take Enugu to the next level in line with APC’s national manifesto”.
