Engineer docked over alleged theft of machine worth N 4m

A 44-year-old engineer , Christopher Mnaze,  was on Wednesday arraigned in  a Magistrates’ Court, Wuse, Zone II, Abuja, for allegedly stealing a machine worth N 4 million.

The police charged Mnaze, of Bmuko by RCC Abuja, with theft by servant.

The defendant, however, pleaded not guilty to the charge against him.

The prosecuting counsel, Mr Mayowa Adefeyi, told the court earlier that the complainant, Bala Godwin of Angwan Sarki reported at the Central Police Station, Abuja.

He alleged that the defendant stole the splicing machine and fusion splier valued N 4 million left in his care by a company.

The prosecutor said the offence contravened the provisions of sections 289 of the Penal Code.

The Judge, Magistrate Rita Obla, admitted the defendant to bail in the sum of N 1, 000,000 with two sureties in like sum.

She said that one of the sureties must be a civil servant not below grade level seven, and the other must be somebody with a verified address.

She adjourned the case until June 6, for hearing.
