The Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA) has confirmed two separate fire outbreaks in different parts of Lagos, both linked to electrical faults.

In a statement issued by the agency’s Head of Public Affairs, Afolabi Olawale, the incidents were reported to have occurred on Sunday in FESTAC Town and Ikeja GRA

According to LASEMA, the first fire broke out in FESTAC Town Phase 2, where a spark from a conduit wire on the ground floor ignited a single-storey residential building

Emergency responders, including the LASEMA Response Team and the Lagos State Fire and Rescue Service, arrived promptly and successfully contained the blaze.

The quick intervention prevented the fire from spreading to other parts of the building and nearby structures.

Although no injuries or fatalities were recorded, property worth millions of naira was destroyed in the incident.

A second fire was reported at Rev. Ogunbiyi Estate in Ikeja Government Reserved Area (GRA), where an electrical surge from an air conditioning unit triggered a fire in a duplex.

Residents in the area acted swiftly to control the situation before emergency teams arrived at the scene.

Authorities confirmed that no casualties were recorded, as the combined efforts of residents and responders prevented the fire from escalating.

LASEMA urged Lagos residents to handle electrical appliances with caution to avoid similar incidents.

The agency also advised the public to promptly report emergencies using the state’s toll-free lines, 112 or 767, to enable rapid response.

Officials confirmed that response operations at both locations have been completed and the affected areas declared safe.
