The African Democratic Congress (ADC) in Katsina State has condemned the latest wave of bandit attacks across several communities, describing the killings of security personnel and civilians as alarming and unacceptable.

The party’s State Chairman, Lawal Tukur-Batagarawa, expressed the party’s position while addressing journalists in Katsina.

He said the renewed violence, particularly in Matazu and Musawa Local Government Areas, underscores the deteriorating security situation in the state.

According to him, the attacks resulted in multiple casualties, including police officers and residents, with several homes and properties reportedly destroyed.

Tukur-Batagarawa lamented that the incidents occurred despite peace agreements previously reached in some affected communities.

He questioned the effectiveness of such arrangements and raised concerns about the commitment to sustaining peace in the region.

The ADC leader attributed the persistent insecurity to what he described as inadequate leadership and the failure of authorities to provide adequate protection for citizens.

He stressed that safeguarding lives and property remains a fundamental responsibility of government at all levels.

The party also extended condolences to families and communities affected by the attacks, noting that the incidents have deepened fear among residents in rural areas.

Tukur-Batagarawa called on both the Federal Government of Nigeria and the Katsina State Government to take immediate and decisive action to curb the rising insecurity.

He urged security agencies to strengthen coordination and intensify operations to prevent further attacks.

The ADC chairman further assured that his party remains committed to addressing security challenges and improving safety if given the opportunity to govern.

Meanwhile, the Katsina State Police Command confirmed the attacks, with its spokesperson, DSP Abubakar Sadiq-Aliyu, stating that further details would be provided after ongoing assessments.

The recent incidents add to growing concerns over the security situation in northern Nigeria, particularly in communities vulnerable to banditry and armed violence.
