The Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Ekiti Council, has initiated partnership with the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) to tackle quackery in the profession and  reduce road crashes through enlightenment campaigns.
The agreement was reached during a courtesy visit by the executives of the NUJ to the FRSC Sector Commander in Ekiti on Tuesday at the Ado/Ikere-Ekiti road headquarters of the command.
The Chairman of NUJ, Mr Kayode Babatuyi , deplored the high incidence of quackery in the journalism profession, a development which he said had undermined genuine media practitioners.
He solicited for the supports of the FRSC and other organisation in tackling the problem.
Mr  Babatuyi explained that the visit was part of the familiarization tour by the new executive members to the office of the FRSC and to build more relationship between the Ekiti NUJ and the officials of the FRSC.
He assured the FRSC that the media would continue to support the corps and implored it not to relent in its role of sensitizing members of the public to the danger of reckless driving.
Responding, the Sector Commander, Ekiti State FRSC, Mr Olusola Joseph, appreciated the Chairman and his executive members for the visit.
He emphasized the importance of the work of journalists in the state and promised to continue in maintaining good relationship with the members of the media.
The FRSC boss said that the organisation under his watch would continue to accord journalist the deserved respect.
Similarly, the Head of Operations, Ekiti State Command of the FRSC, Mr Olajide Magaji, thanked members of the NUJ executive for the visit.
He used the occasion to announced the delivery of two new branded towing vehicles to the command, saying the FRSC would henceforth tow any vehicle obstructing traffic to its office.
