No fewer than 33 governorship aspirants have indicated interest in the May 5, All Progressives Congress (APC) primaries in Ekiti State, an official has said.
Mr Taiwo Olatubosun, the state Publicity Secretary of the party, disclosed this in Ado-Ekiti, adding that aspirants were those who scaled through the party screening for the primaries.

“We have four categories of delegates for the primaries namely; delegates from each of the 117 wards of the state, those from the 16 Local Government Areas (LGAs), as well as members of the State Executive. There are also statutory ‎delegates,’’ he said.
According to Olatubosun, the party has made adequate arrangement to ensure that the event is hitch- free.

“We have no doubt that our party will conduct free, fair and credible primary election, there is nothing to worry about.

‘’We have informed our party leaders at the National Secretariat that, no form of impersonation will be tolerated.

Olatubosun, however, urged all aspirants to base their campaign on issues not on blackmail, warning that aspirants who engaged in any form of bad utterances, blasphemy or ridicule would be sanctioned.‎
Among the leading aspirants are former governor and Minister of Solid Mineral Development, Dr. Kayode Fayemi, former Governor Segun Oni, Senator Babafemi Ojudu and Mr. Opeyemi Bamidele.
