Worshippers at the Afobaje Community Mosque in Ota, Ogun State have been urged to remain steadfast in prayers for Nigeria’s unity and progress rather than engage in actions capable of destabilising the country.
Delivering his sermon to mark the Eid celebration, the Chief Imam of the mosque,  Sheikh Maulana Tijani Sherif admonished Nigerians to recognise that the nation remains their only collective home, stressing that there is no alternative country to call their own.
He emphasised that meaningful development can only be achieved through the collective efforts of both leaders and citizens, noting that nation-building is a shared responsibility.
According to him, “There is no other country we can call ours except Nigeria. It is the duty of every individual, both the leaders and the led, to contribute positively to the growth and development of the nation.”

The cleric warned against negative utterances and actions, particularly prayers or wishes for war and destruction, describing them as counterproductive to national progress.
“Praying for war or destruction is not an alternative to achieving a better Nigeria. We must continue to pray for peace, unity and stability,” he said.
He further charged Muslims to be at the forefront of promoting good values and development, urging them to avoid actions forbidden by Allah.
The Imam also reminded faithful of the spiritual discipline observed during Ramadan, encouraging them not to abandon the good deeds cultivated during the holy month.
“All the good things we engaged in during Ramadan should not be left behind. We must sustain those virtues to continue to earn the favour of Allah,” he added.
The sermon concluded with prayers for peace, unity and sustained progress in Nigeria.
