The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) is set to arraign two Senior Advocates of Nigeria (SANs), Rickey Tarfa and Dr Joseph Nwobike, at the Lagos State High Court for alleged bribery.
This is contained in a statement issued by the Commission`s Head of Media and Publicity, Mr Wilson Uwujaren.
According to the statement, the two senior advocates are both accused of offering gratification running into millions of naira to judges to influence decisions in their favour.
It said that Tarfa was facing a 27-count charge of alleged wilful obstruction of authorised officers of EFCC and refusing to declare asset.
The statement said that Tarfa also gave false information to an EFCC officer and offered gratification to a public official.
One of the count-charges against Tarfa, the statement said, was that he gave the sum of N1.5 million to Justice Nganjiwa Hyeladzira Ajiya of the Federal High Court.
The statement added that Dr Joseph Nwobike (SAN) also intentionally gave the sum of N750, 000 to Justice Mohammed Yunusa of the Federal High Court.
This, it said, he did in order that the said Judge acts in the exercise of his official duties in his favour.
