*Adamawa Gov: INEC should be accused of violating Electoral Act

*Obaseki defends visit to INEC Office

Hours after he visited office of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) in Benin, Governor, Godwin Obaseki has defended his integrity.

Obaseki

He said he was at the office on Sunday morning for information on what was stalling the collation of results of the governorship election.
At a press conference in Benin City, the state capital, alongside his Adamawa State counterpart, Ahmadu Fintiri; Edo State governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Dr. Asue Ighodalo, and others, Obaseki said it was after he left the INEC office that the commission issued a statement to say it had postponed collation to 10 am.
Fintiri

Fintiri reeled out results of some polling units and local governments, stating that the results were those available in the public domain, and that he was not usurping the powers of the electoral umpire by his action.
“I did not announce results. I only informed the public on the exact figure from our collation agents that was ongoing before INEC disrupted the process.
“INEC should be accused of violating the Electoral Act, not me”, Fintiri said.
