The Vice President of Awka Central Archdeaconry (Anglican Communion), Mrs Chinwe Nwafor, has tasked women on building up and fortifying spiritual lives of their families in order to attract God’s blessings.

Nwafor, wife of the Archdeacon of Awka Central Archdeaconry and Vicar in charge of Church of the Pentecost Awka, Venerable Ekene Nwafor, said this after leading a group of women on an early-hour evangelism to commemorate the risen Jesus Christ.

The women marched and shouted songs of alleluia and victory of the risen Jesus Christ within Awka and its environs early on Sunday.

According to her, biblical women did many works in building the spiritual lives of their families and the world around them, even as women today are expected to do the same or surpass them.

She said that Christ appeared to a woman first because “He has given them huge strength to build and fortify their societies spiritually and raise godly homes”.

Mrs Uche Ekenechukwu, one of the women that joined in the early-morning evangelism, said that the exercise was a wake-up call for all Christian women.

Ekenechukwu said that the exercise would bring to bear in the minds of Christian women the reality of Christ and “for them to be cautious of their behavior in the world as they are being watched closely.

“Easter is not a time for merriment but a time for Christians to emulate Jesus Christ’s selfless lifestyle and promote all that Christ represents,” she said.

The women went on the early-morning evangelism about 5:30am to promote the risen Jesus Christ, which Easter represents.

The early-morning evangelism on Easter Sunday had remained an age-long practice of the Anglican Church worldwide.
