The Super Eagles of Nigeria will now play Niger in a friendly international on September 9 at the Adokiye Amiesiamaka Stadium, Port Harcourt, Rivers State after proposals to take on Ghana or Togo did not come through.
A source in the NFF disclosed: “The match against Niger Republic is now confirmed for Port Harcourt after the AFCON qualifier in Tanzania. The other proposals to other neigbouring countries like Ghana and Togo was not possible.”
However, it is left to be seen the team who will prosecute this match – whether the home-based Eagles to prepare them for a CHAN qualifier against Burkina Faso in October or the main the Eagles squad.
Port Harcourt was also the proud host city for a crucial CAF U23 Championship qualifier against Congo recently.
