Super Eagles players, after nailing the Flames of Malawi to the cross in the 2014 African qualifiers at the weekend, have vowed to defeat the Stallions of Burkina Faso in Tuesday international friendly scheduled for the Ahmadu Bello Stadium, Kaduna.

The Eagles stars disclosed that, after recording a cup winner victory against the Burkinabes at the South Africa 2013 Nations Cup, they are fully aware of the strong points of their opponent.

Super Eagles midfielder, Ogenyi Onazi, said jokingly that Burkina Faso star player, Petroipa, would give Eagles defender, Azubuike Egwuekwe, some restless moments in the friendly game “and I know you have been thinking of him.”

The defender kept mute and just shook his head but Emmanuel Emenike, who incidentally did not play the final due to a knock, rose to his defence. “Petroipa was there at the Nations Cup and we know the result. We shall see who is the master of African football when the game starts.”

That is the spirit with which the Nigerian side would approach the grade A international friendly scheduled for the Ahmadu Bello Stadium in Kaduna.

As usual fans are expected to come to the stadium in large numbers for the encounter.

Head Coach, Stephen Keshi, also emphasised the abilities of their West African neigbhours but added that he trusts his players to effectively curtain them in the friendly.

Eagles stand-in captain,Vincent Enyeama, spoke in a similar vein as the stage looks set for an entertaining encounter on Tuesday evening.

Two former internationals, Garba Lawal and Ibrahim Babangida, are already in town to lend support to the national team.

Babangida was at the team’s early morning training session and shared his thoughts with Keshi and his crew, while Lawal came to the team’s African Continental Hotel abode to offer his support.
