Eagles climb on FIFA ranking

Super Eagles, on Thursday, climbed two steps and are in seventh position in Africa and 43rd in the world with 681 points, according to the latest world ranking released by the Federation of International Football Association (FIFA).
The Nigerian team, which was previously in the ninth position in Africa and 45th in the world, improved from last month’s ranking.
The Eagles of Algeria shoved all teams aside to become Africa’s number one ranked nation dwarfing 2015 Africa Cup of Nations winners, Ivory Coast, who are now in second place.
The African top ten sides are Algeria, Ivory Coast, Tunisia, Ghana, Senegal, Cape Verde, Nigeria, Guinea, Congo and Cameroon.
At the world level, world Champions Germany are still top of the pile in the world with 1,775 points followed by European powerhouse Belgium and runners-up at the last Mundial, Argentina in second and third places respectively.
