The Association of Corporate Communication and Marketing Professionals in Banks (ACAMB) has joined individuals, professional bodies and organisations across Nigeria in mourning the death of veteran journalist, media entrepreneur and Publisher of The Eagle Online, Dotun Oladipo.
Oladipo, who was also the Chief Executive Officer of Premium Eagle Media Limited, died on Tuesday, 25 August 2026, at the age of 56, following a sudden illness in Lagos.
For ACAMB, his passing represented the loss of far more than an accomplished journalist. Oladipo was a significant voice in Nigerian media whose career mirrored the profession’s own journey from the traditional newsroom to the digital era, and who helped shape that transition for a generation of practitioners.
Beyond his work as a journalist and publisher, he played an important part in the development and professionalisation of the country’s online publishing industry, an influence that reached well past the titles he held and the organisations he led.
Tributes since his death have continued to pour as he is remembered as a dependable professional, gentleman, and a committed journalist who gave much to the growth of Nigerian media.
Commenting on the loss, the President of ACAMB, Babajide Sipe, described his passing as a painful one for the media and communications community.
“The passing of Dotun Oladipo is a profound loss to Nigeria’s media and communications industry. Dotun was a builder who dedicated decades of his life to journalism and played an important role in the growth of Nigeria’s digital media space,” Sipe said. “For those of us in corporate communications and marketing, the media remains an indispensable partner in building informed communities and strengthening public discourse. Dotun understood this relationship deeply and contributed immensely to the profession through his work, his leadership and his relationships across the media industry.”
The Association noted that while his death left a considerable void, his contributions to journalism and digital publishing would endure as part of the industry’s story. Through his work, his leadership and his steady commitment to the profession, he helped shape national conversations and strengthen the place of the media in society.
ACAMB extended its deepest condolences to the family, colleagues, friends and associates of Dotun Oladipo, and to the entire Nigerian media community, and prayed for the fortitude to bear the loss.
