DLA Presidential Aspirant Abisayo Busari-Akinnadeju Resigns, Demands Nomination Fee Refund

Mrs. Abisayo Busari-Akinnadeju, a female aspirant for the 2027 presidential election under the Democratic Leadership Alliance (DLA), has resigned from the party, citing the inability of the DLA to conduct a free and fair primary.

In a resignation letter addressed to the National Chairman of the party, obtained by our correspondence on Friday, Busari-Akinnadeju requested a refund of her presidential nomination fee and the return of personal documents held by the party.

“I do not resign in defeat. I resign because I am not allowed a fair contest, and I will not lend my name to a process that has abandoned its own rules,” she wrote. She criticized the party leadership for opting for a consensus candidate, calling it “opposed and inimical to the growth of the party.”

Busari-Akinnadeju expressed gratitude to party members nationwide who supported her, emphasizing that her resignation was directed at the leadership, not the grassroots members. She affirmed her continued commitment to the 2027 presidential race and the #DareNigeria agenda, stating that recent developments have strengthened her resolve to pursue change.

“The record speaks plainly: a party that cannot conduct a fair primary among its aspirants cannot credibly promise a fair country to its citizens,” she said, highlighting her belief in transparency and lawful processes.

The aspirant hails from Akungba Akoko in Akoko South-West Local Government Area of Ondo State, and has invested significant time and resources in her campaign, expecting a credible platform for her presidential bid.
