The Deejays Association of Nigeria (DJAN) has denied reports claiming it placed a ban on the music of popular Nigerian artist Burna Boy, describing the information as false and misleading.
In a statement released in Abuja, DJAN President, Prince Akim Edeh, clarified that the association had no involvement in any decision to restrict the artist’s songs.
Edeh explained that the viral claims were linked to unauthorised graphics circulating online, which falsely suggested that DJAN had taken disciplinary action against Burna Boy.
He noted that the individual featured in the circulating content is not a registered member of the association.
According to him, the use of DJAN’s official logo on such materials is a misuse of the organisation’s identity and an attempt to lend credibility to misinformation.
The association strongly condemned the spread of false narratives and urged media platforms to correct any misleading reports attributed to DJAN.
Edeh emphasized that DJAN does not support bans on artists and remains committed to promoting the growth of the Nigerian music industry.
He also addressed reports of a recent incident involving a disc jockey and Burna Boy, stating that the association is closely monitoring developments.
While refraining from making definitive conclusions, he stressed that DJAN maintains a zero-tolerance stance on violence and any form of physical confrontation within the entertainment space.
The DJAN president called for calm and advised the public to allow relevant authorities to complete their investigations into the matter.
He reiterated that music should serve as a unifying force and that the association would continue to uphold professionalism among DJs and artists.
