Dismissed staff has no say in FUOYE project – Registrar

The management of Federal University Oye Ekiti (FUOYE), Ekiti State, has dismissed with a wave of hand a petition allegedly fired to Minister of Education, Dr. Mauruf Olatunji Alausa, by a dismissed member of staff, Mr. Saka Odunjo, describing it as a paperless petition lacking in merit.

The university management said that Saka Odunjo, who authored the alleged petition, lacked the required competence to speak on behalf of the teeming members of staff because he had ceased to be one of them following his dismissal on the grounds of serious misconduct.

Saka Odunjo, who was dismissed from FUOYE for serious misconduct in February this year, initiated the frivolous petition, asking Education Minister, Dr. Alausa, to probe into what he called “a gross governance failure and deep-rooted financial mismanagement in the university.”

Besides, Saka Odunjo raised an issue of “alliance between the Pro-Chancellor and Chairman of FUOYE Governing Council, Senator Victor Ndoma-Egba and the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Abayomi Sunday Fasina,” describing it as an unholy alliance.

But the university management said Saka Odunjo, who was dismissed from the university for serious misconduct in February was not competent to initiate such petition on behalf of other members of staff.

A statement by the university Registrar, Mr. Mufutau Ibrahim through the Public Relations Officer, Mr. Foluso Ogunmodede, said Saka Odunjo was not qualified to report the Senator Victor Ndoma-Egba-led Governing Council and the substantive Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Abayomi Sunday Fasina, to any higher authorities including the Minister of Education over a perceived grievance as Saka Odunjo had ceased to be a member of staff of FUOYE.

Besides, Saka Odunjo who was still aggrieved that the university found him guilty for serious misconduct and dismissed from the university was nothing but a rampaging snake whose head was cut off suddenly.

As a rampaging snake, Saka was merely fighting for relevance, using FUOYE as a guinea pig to launch unscrupulous attacks on FUOYE in connivance with Sahara Reporters.

It reads: “Who is Saka Odunjo to speak on behalf of FUOYE members of staff? Saka Odunjo is no longer a member of staff of FUOYE and can’t speak on their behalf.

“He has been dismissed from the university on the grounds of serious misconduct in February 2025. He is nothing but a rampaging snake whose head has been cut off, looking for relevance at all course.

“It is a pity indeed that Sahara Reporters that has remained deaf and blind to the remarkable achievements of FUOYE will in its desperation to demean the University, accept fabrications even from the most dubious of sources including dismissed staff.”

Meanwhile, the university management has again expressed its confidence in the Pro-Chancellor and Chairman of FUOYE Governing Council, Senator Victor Ndoma-Egba’s leadership and the substantive Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Abayomi Sunday Fasina who would resume office following the expiration of his six-month research leave on October 14.

“We believe in our chairman, Distinguished Senator and revered Senior Advocate of Nigeria, Senator Victor Ndoma-Egba, the statement added.
