A Community-Based Organisation (CBO) in Sokoto state, Productive Community for Sustainable Development Initiative (PCSDI), on Tuesday, commenced training for 40 persons on digital literacy and reproductive health issues.
The Executive Director of PCSDI, Mr Nura Bello, said the training was part of the EU-ACT Project intended to strengthen the capacity of community groups on reproductive health system.
The European Union Agents for Citizen-driven Transformation (EU-ACT) program is collaborating with civil society organizations (CSOs) to make the participants credible and effective drivers of change for sustainable development in Nigeria.
Bello said that more groups would benefit from the capacity building training, as modules were designed as a step-down for the benefits of other group members, especially those at the grassroots.
In his remarks, the Director of International Cooperation in the state Ministry of Budget and Economic Planning, Alhaji Musa Wamakko, said that the project was aimed at building the capacity of citizens on digital skills and reproductive health system.
Wamakko said that focal persons had undergone series of trainings in Abuja and were expected to train others in their respective states.
He said that the sessions were designed to educate participants on digital skills, instructions, challenges and problem-solving techniques as well as reproductive health systems and associated benefits.
The facilitators, Malam Yusuf Umar from PCSDI and Mr Abdulrazaq Abubakar from ICT Unit of Sokoto State University, presented papers and answered questions on the contemporary challenges affecting digital learning.
The facilitators also dwelled on the implications of social media misconceptions on reproductive health issues and societal norms.
The Head of Programs, PCSDI, Mr Mustapha Ahmed, urged participants to put into practice the knowledge gained and educate others in their respective groups.
