The Federal High Court in Abuja has adjourned the arraignment of Jimoh Yisawu, former Managing Director of Warri Refining and Petrochemical Company Limited.

The matter, which was scheduled for Friday, could not proceed because the presiding judge, Justice Inyang Ekwo, was absent.

The court fixed July 20, 2026, for the arraignment.

Justice Ekwo was said to be away on another official assignment when the case came up.

Yisawu is facing an alleged money laundering charge filed by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission.

The anti-graft agency listed him as the sole defendant in the case marked FHC/ABJ/CR/361/2026.

According to the charge, the former Warri Refining and Petrochemical Company boss allegedly laundered public funds.

The EFCC also alleged that part of the funds was used to purchase treasury bills for his personal benefit.

The charge was dated and filed on June 22 by Ekele Iheanacho, SAN.

It contains eight counts against Yisawu.

The alleged offence is said to be contrary to Section 18(2)(b) of the Money Laundering Prevention and Prohibition Act, 2022.

The EFCC said the offence is punishable under Section 18(3) of the same law.

The development comes shortly after the EFCC arraigned Ahmed Dikko, former Managing Director of Port Harcourt Refining Company Limited, before the same court.

Dikko was arraigned on Wednesday before Justice Ekwo on a 12-count charge also bordering on alleged money laundering.

He pleaded not guilty to the charge.

The court later adjourned Dikko’s trial until October 12.

Yisawu’s arraignment is now expected to take place on July 20 at the Federal High Court in Abuja.
