The Confederation of African Football (CAF) will Thursday take a final decision on the issue concerning Nigeria’s representative in the Confederation Cup, Rangers International FC of Enugu.
Rangers have appealed against their disqualification from the Confederation Cup.
In a letter to the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) dated July 23, CAF Secretary General Hicham El Amrani promised that within the next 48 hours a formal decision on Rangers appeal will be made known.
The appeals committee met on Saturday, July 20.
The NFF through general secretary Musa Amadu had contacted CAF on Rangers appeal after a Confederation Cup match between CS Sfaxien and Etoile du Sahel both of Tunisia went ahead last weekend.
Rangers were thrown out of Africa’s second tier club competition after CAF ruled that goalkeeper Emmanuel Daniel was ineligible to play for them against Sfaxien in a final qualifier.
Sfaxien therefore replaced Rangers in a mini-league group that included Saint George of Ethiopia, Etoile du Sahel and Stade Malien from Mali.
