The Christian Association of Nigeria has expressed sadness over the death of Rev. Dr William Okoye, Founder and General Overseer of All Christians Fellowship Mission.
CAN President, Archbishop Daniel Okoh, conveyed the association’s condolences in a statement made available to journalists on Thursday in Abuja.
Okoh extended sympathy to the late cleric’s widow, Rev. Mrs Toyin Okoye, his children, All Christians Fellowship Mission and the wider Christian community in Nigeria.
He described Okoye as a devoted servant of GOD who dedicated his life to preaching the Gospel, mentoring leaders and promoting the unity and growth of the Church.
According to the CAN President, Okoye’s service to the body of CHRIST went beyond his personal ministry.
He noted that the late cleric served as Chairman of CAN, FCT Chapter, and Chairman of the Pentecostal Fellowship of Nigeria, FCT Chapter.
Okoye also served as CAN National Director on National Issues and Social Welfare.
Okoh said the late minister made meaningful contributions to strengthening Christian witness in Nigeria and advancing engagement on matters affecting the Church and society.
He also highlighted Okoye’s contributions to national service, saying the cleric held several important responsibilities during his lifetime.
According to him, Okoye served as a member of the Presidential Advisory Council on Youth Affairs, the National Political Reform Conference and the Nigerian Christian Pilgrims Commission.
He also served as Chaplain to two Presidents of the Federal Republic of Nigeria and Head of the Aso Rock Villa Chapel.
Okoh said Okoye’s public service reflected his belief that faith should have a positive impact on society.
The CAN President described him as a humble and wise servant of GOD who carried out his duties with grace, dedication and a calm spirit.
He said the late cleric was deeply committed to the unity of the Church and was always ready to offer counsel and experience when called upon.
Okoh added that Okoye’s wisdom, humility and passion for advancing GOD’S Kingdom would be greatly missed.
While mourning his passing, CAN urged Christians to thank GOD for a life dedicated to service.
The association prayed that GOD would comfort the bereaved family, All Christians Fellowship Mission and all those affected by the loss.
CAN also prayed for strength for the family and the Christian community as they mourn the respected cleric.
