A constitutional lawyer and public affairs analyst, Mr Jide Ologun, has urged newly appointed ministers and reassigned cabinet members to work for the progress of the country .
Ologun, also the Pastor in Charge, Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), Living Faith Parish, Ikeja, made the plea in an interview with Newsmen on Thursday in Lagos.
He was reacting to President’s cabinet reshuffle on Wednesday ,which led to the sack of five ministers,appointment of new ones and reassignment of others
According to him, there are five crucial keys to successful project management.
He listed the keys as goal definition and direction, team competencies, clear roles and responsibilities, communication and consultation, and adherence to timeframe, and performance criteria.
He said that these call for evaluation and reinventing.
Ologun said: “Given the President’s performance benchmarked against promissory expectations, the reshuffling is long overdue.
“By and large, echoing the words of the President, I strongly hope the newly appointed ministers and their reassigned colleagues will see their appointment as a call to serve the nation.
“They must match the consciousness with apparent development performance to the the citizens’ benefit, President’s credit and God’s glory.”
Speaking further on expectations, the lawyer expressed hope that the newly created Ministry of Livestock Development would deliver on resolving the bandits exploits in the nation, and help restore productive sanity in the agro economy sector.
He also expressed hope that the re-branded Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Reduction, particularly the exit of suspended Betta Edu, would ensure that justice still has its way regarding corruption allegations against key players in the ministry.
According to him, the appointment of Former Minister of Sports, Mr Sunday Dare as Special Adviser to the President on Public Communication and Orientation working from the Ministry of Information and National Orientation underscores the hope for revival in national orientation and citizen”s enlightenment.
Ologun said that also noteworthy was the emergence of Mrs Bianca Ojukwu as Minister of State for Foreign Affairs.
Tinubu on Wednesday sacked five ministers and appointed seven new ones .
He also restructured ministerial portfolios to reinvigorate his administration’s capacity to deliver on his promises to Nigerians.
The sacked ministers include Barr. Uju-Ken Ohanenye, Minister of Women Affairs; Lola Ade-John, Minister of Tourism; and Prof. Tahir Mamman, Minister of Education.
Others are: Abdullahi Gwarzo, Minister of State, Housing and Urban Development; and Dr. Jamila Bio Ibrahim, Minister of Youth Development.
Tinubu also appointed seven new ministers and assigned portfolios to them, subject to confirmation by the Senate.
Dr Nentawe Yilwatda was appointed Minister of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Reduction; Muhammadu Dingyadi, Minister of Labour and Employment; Mrs Bianca Odumegu-Ojukwu, Minister of State Foreign Affairs; and Dr Jumoke Oduwole, Minister of Industry, Trade and Investment.
Others are: Idi Maiha, Minister of Livestock Development Federal Ministry; Mr Yusuf Ata, Minister of State, Housing and Urban Development; and Dr Suwaiba Ahmad, Minister of State Education.
The President also appointed Shehu Dikko as Chairman of the National Sports Commission and Mr Sunday Dare as Special Adviser to the President on Public Communication and Orientation, working from the Ministry of Information and National Orientation.
Tinubu also restructured the Ministry of Nigeria Delta Development, which is now Ministry of Regional Development to oversee the activities of all the regional development commissions.
The regional development commissions to be under the supervision of the new Ministry are: the Niger Delta Development Commission, the South East Development Commission, the North East Development and the North West Development Commission.
The President also approved the immediate winding up of the Ministry of Sports Development and the transfer of its functions to the National Sports Commission in order to develop a vibrant sports economy.
Similarly, the President approved the merger of the Federal Ministry of Tourism and the Federal Ministry of Arts and Culture to become Federal Ministry of Art, Culture, Tourism and the Creative Economy.
Tinubu re-assigned 10 ministers to new ministerial portfolios.
