The eighth day Fidau prayers for Pa Ademola Fashola, the father of Gov. Babatunde Fashola, was held on Tuesday in Lagos with a charge to leaders to live exemplary life.

Fashola died on Aug. 5 at the age of 79.

Former Head of State, Retired Gen. Muhammadu Buhari and the Speaker of House of Representatives, Alhaji Aminu Tambuwal, were among prominent Nigerians who attended the event held at Tafawa Balewa Square (TBS).

Others include the governors of Ogun, Kano, Niger, Edo, Osun, Kogi, Jigawa and Oyo States.

In a sermon on the occasion, Sheik AbdulRahman Ahmad, the Chief Missioner of Ansar-Ur-Deen Society of Nigeria, said death was the necessary end of man.

“Death is the end of every man. What is important is that leaders should live exemplary life.

“This will make them to be celebrated after their demise as their deeds will live after them.

“It is not the number of years we spend on the earth that matters, but how well we live.’’

Ahmad urged political leaders to fulfill their promises to the people who elected them and also shun abuse of power and arrogance.

Business mogul and industrialists, Alhaji Aliko Dangote, a foremost banker, Chief Subomi Balogun and Chief Rasaq Okoya were also present at the Fidau prayers led by Alhaji Muheedeen Bello.

Also in attendance were chieftains of the All Progressives Congress (APC), including a former Ekiti Governor, Adeniyi Adebayo, and a former Yobe Governor, Adamu Aileru.
