Breaking: Lamurde Placed Under 24-Hour Curfew as Violence Erupts Again in Adamawa

The government of Adamawa State has introduced a round-the-clock curfew in Lamurde Local Government Area following fresh outbreaks of violence reported in several communities.

The directive was announced by Ahmadu Fintiri, the state governor, through a statement released in Yola by his Chief Press Secretary, Humwashi Wonosikou.

According to the statement, the measure became necessary after renewed clashes disrupted peace in the area and allegedly resulted in the deaths of some residents.

Governor Fintiri condemned the violence and instructed security agencies to enforce the restriction without compromise in order to restore calm.

The statement warned that anyone who disobeys the curfew order would face arrest and legal consequences.

Authorities said the restriction would remain in place until the security situation improves and normalcy is restored in the affected communities.

Security operatives have also been directed to intensify patrols and ensure strict compliance with the order while maintaining law and order across the local government area.

The governor appealed to residents to cooperate with security agencies and provide useful information that could help identify those responsible for the unrest.

He reiterated the state government’s commitment to safeguarding lives and property and stressed that acts capable of threatening peace would not be tolerated.

Lamurde had previously experienced similar tensions, prompting the state government to impose a curfew in December 2025 after clashes involving members of the Bachama community.
