Bayelsa Govt: APC, Sylva desperate for attention after crushing defections

The people of Opume community in Ogbia local government area of Bayelsa State led by its traditional ruler, HRH King A.J Turner, and his Chief Council have declared their support for Governor Henry Dickson’s re-election bid.
Making this known during a rally organised in support of the governor’s re-election held at Opume, the people of the kingdom unanimously endorsed the governor as they made it abundantly known that there was no time the Chief Council of Opume Kingdom declared for APC as insinuated by some media houses.
It was added that, if one out of the 13 members of the Chiefs Council decided to join APC, does not mean all the Chief’s council have declared for APC.
According to them, Opume Kingdom is for PDP and they will continue to be with PDP and ensure that Dickson wins the December 5 election.
Also speaking at the occasion, Chief Blessing Akkoloma said the massive infrastructure put in place by Dickson is seen by all, including those at Opume Kingdom, and that the people of the Kingdom will not be deceived by any other party or aspirant.
Speaking through his Commissioner for Culture and Ijaw Affairs, Dr. Felix Tuodolor, Dickson thanked HRH King A.J Turner and his Council of Chiefs, CDC, women groups and youth groups for coming out en-masse to support Dickson and staying fast with PDP.

He commended the people for their supports urging them to come out en masse with their PVCs to vote on December 5 for Dickson “and ensure that your vote counts. Then you are sure of more development, and it is also a vote for your King”.
Dignitaries in attendance included Hon. Dr Felix Tuodolor (Commissioner for Ijaw National Affairs), HRH King A.J Turner, Hon. Gentle, Hon. Mcmanuel, Hon. Mitema Obodo, Chief A.M Aduba (National Chairman O.P.F), Chairman Ogbia L.G.A, Hon. Fred Obua, Barr. F.F Togele, Hon. Graham Pigansi (S.A to Governor) and Chief George Okrinya (S.A to Governor).

Others were; Dr Seibofa, Hon. Igobasi Mc Donald (S.A to Governor), Chief F.S Ibegu, Hon. Ibetu Peter (Com BS), Hon. James Tobia, Hon. Budget Isaiah (PDP Chairman Ogbia LGA), Mr. Blessing Akkoloma, Dr David Okilo, Hon. Mike Ogiasa, Chief Charles Paul (O.U.F National President), All Chief Council and CDCS and Various Youth Organisation.
Meanwhile, a retired Colonel and member representing Sagbama Constituency 2 in Bayelsa State House of Assembly, Colonel Bernard Kenebai (rtd), has commended the people of Toruebeni in Sagbama Local Government Area for rejecting the APC and Sylva.
The people conveyed their displeasure with the party on Thursday when Sylva went to Toruebeni to seek their support for his ambition to rule the state again.
Trouble started shortly after Sylva incurred the wrath of youths and women groups as he tried to take credit for the construction of the Toruebeni gigantic bridge which, of course, was completed by Dickson. The people accused Sylva of neglecting Toruebeni in his five year mal- administration as governor. The angry youths shouted Sylva down, booed and jeered at him, forcing Sylva and members of his campaign team to abruptly end their tour and return to Yenagoa in shame.
Speaking on the development, Kenebai said what happened to Sylva was a dose of democracy in action.
He said gone were the days when the electorate were deceived and thanked his constituents for being politically conscious.
While assuring the people of Turuebeni of more dividends of democracy if they re-elect Dickson on December 5, the lawmaker commended the people for their steadfast support for PDP and the governor.
Kenebai praised the people of Turuebeni for their outright rejection of Sylva and urged all well-meaning Bayelsans to borrow a leaf from Toruebeni because according to him, “making Sylva governor again is like returning Bayelsa to Egypt”.
Kanebai also commended the police, DSS and INEC for being neutral so far and urged them not to be intimidated by Sylva’s blackmail.
The lawmaker noted that Sylva has been deceiving unsuspecting Bayelsans that he would use federal might to rig the election but expressed confidence that Bayelsans have taken their collective destiny in their hands and will resist any attempt to rig the election.
