About 20 members of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) were held hostage by Niger-Delta militants at Ekowe police station in Southern Ijaw LGA on Sunday.
Also, soldiers on election duties at Oporoma, headquarters of Southern Ijaw Local Government Area on Sunday stopped police from transferring APC thugs arrested with guns.
The thugs are believed to be working with an ex militant leader, Africa, who is from Olugbobiri.
Meanwhile, security personnel escorting electoral materials to Opuama, Eniwari, Ekowe, Egbomotoru one and two were overpowered by armed thugs and all electoral materials taken away.
According to reports, Eniwari community was also invaded by heavily armed thugs, who fired sporadically into the air.
As the materials had been hijacked, INEC officials were seen forcing their adhoc staff, including the corp members, to travel back to various units around 6:30 pm to conduct elections.
Meanwhile, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has won the governorship election in three local governments.
The results were announced by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) on Sunday.
The result shows that in Yenagoa LGA, which has the largest number of voters, the PDP scored a total of 24, 258 votes to APC’s 14, 563.
The PDP candidate and incumbent governor, Henry Seriake Dickson, also came out victorious in Kolokuma/Opokuma LGA, where he polled a total 7, 619 votes to 6, 396 for Chief Timipre Sylva of the APC, while in Sagbama LGA, the PDP amassed a total 28,934 votes to 5,382 for the APC and 506 for the Peoples Democratic Movement (PDM).
Freedom Online gathered that some thugs suspected to be working for the APC forced INEC adhoc staff to thumb print for the APC at gunpoint at a polling unit in ward 4 of Brass Local Government Area.
The incident took place at Dakuraku open field in Brass LGA, where the corp members, working for INEC, rigged the election in favour of the APC for the safety of their lives.
Meanwhile, the PDP has called on INEC to urgently investigate the matter and take necessary action to forestall future occurrences.
