AVM Hamza Abdullahi buried in Kano

The remains of former Military Governor of old Kano State, Air Vice Marshal (AVM) Hamza Abdullahi, were laid to rest in Kano on Friday.
Abdullahi’s corpse was flown into the Malam Aminu Kano International Airport from Germany by a jet.‎
The corpse was received by Kano State Governor, Dr Abdullahi Ganduje, Emir of Hadeja, Alhaji Adamu Maje, and order top government functionaries around 8pm.‎
The corpse was conveyed to Emir’s palace by a Nigeria Air Force’s Ambulance.
The funeral prayer which was held at exactly 10pm at the Kano Emirs palace was led by Chief Imam of Hadeja, Malam Abdurahman Yusuf‎.
He was buried at ‎Tarauni Cemetery in Tarauni Local government area of Kano State.
‎Abdullahi died in the early hours of Thursday at a German hospital after a protracted illness.‎
Among the prominent personalities that attended the funeral prayer were Ganduje, Emirs of Kano, Kazaure and Hadeja, Malam Muhammad Sanusi II, Najib Hussaini Adamu and Alhaji Adamu Maje respectively.
Others were former Minister of Industry, AVM Nura Imam, former governor of Jigawa State, Alhaji Sule Lamido, Deputy governor of Kano State, Dr Nasiru Gawuna, Senator Barau Jibrin and Senator Ubale Shittu, among others.
Meanwhile, scores of sympathisers from Kano and other parts of the country have continued to troop to Abdullahi’s residence at Hotoro area to condole with the family over his demise.
Alhaji Ibrahim Suleiman, a relation to the deceased who came in from Hadejia, Jigawa State, said Abdullahi was a God-fearing man, jovial and dedicated to service.
“I came to pay my final respect to him, as he heads to his new and final home. May his soul rest in perfect peace. ” he said.
Hajiya Umma Abdurrahman, one of the sympathisers, also described the deceased as a father of all, who put smiles on people’s faces.
“He lived a life helping and lifting people. He loved his relatives and neighbours, and we pray that his good deeds accompany him to his final home. ”
Malam Liman Habibu, a neighbour to the deceased, said they enjoyed a lot from his wealth as he assisted the poor in various ways.
They prayed to God to grant him eternal rest and the family the fortitude to bear the irreparable loss.
