Athletics: Dasaolu to open season in Dusseldorf

Sainsbury’s Indoor British Champion James Dasaolu will get his indoor season underway racing over 60m at the PSD Bank Meeting in Dusseldorf, Germany.
Dasaolu, whose last 60m outing was at last year’s Sainsbury’s Indoor Grand Prix where he took victory but pulled up just before the line with a hamstring injury, will look to capitalise on a good block of training at the British Athletics warm weather training camp in South Africa.
With a personal best of 6.47 set in Birmingham last year, Dasaolu will be among the favourites alongside American Michael Rodgers and veteran Kim Collins. Also in the field is GB & NI’s Danny Talbot (Dan Cossins), who will be looking to test his speed over the shorter distance.
Also in sprint action is London 2012 fourth placer Lawrence Clark (Malcolm Arnold) who makes his second indoor outing over 60mH in 2014. With a 7.69 clocking in Cardiff on Sunday, Clarke will be hoping to revise his three year old personal best of 7.67 in Germany.
Endurance trio Andrew Osagie (Craig Winrow), Charlie Grice (Jon Bigg) and Jonny Hay (Mick Woods) are also all in action over 800m, 1500m and 3,000m respectively, with European Indoor Championship qualifying marks on their agenda. Osagie has pedigree on the boards, with a World Indoor bronze medal in 2014 the highlight of his career to date.
