The Nigerian Army has confirmed the death of its officer, Col. Samaila Inusa, who was abducted by unknown gunmen in Kaduna at the weekend.
A statement in Abuja by the Director of Army Public Relations, Col. Sani Usman, said Inusa’s body was found on Tuesday evening around Ajyaita village in Kaduna.
Usman stated that preliminary investigation revealed that the senior officer might have been killed on the same day he was abducted, as the body was found already decomposing.
He added that “the Army wishes to regrettably inform the public that Col. Samaila Usman, who was kidnapped on Sunday, March 27, 2016 was found dead today (Tuesday) at 6 p.m.
“His body was found decomposing around Ajyiata village off Eastern Bypass Kaduna, Kaduna State.
“Arrangements are in progress to move the body to 44 Nigerian Army Reference Hospital, Kaduna.
“We wish to state in clear terms that whoever is behind his abduction and murder would be fished out to face the full wrath of the law.”
The Colonel was abducted at the weekend by unknown gunmen in Kaduna from his car around Kamazo area, near Refinery Junction in Chikun Local Government Area of Kaduna State on Sunday, March 27.
The abductors intercepted the officer’s personal car, and later dropped off his wife before leaving with him as they travelled along the Abuja-Kaduna road.
The Nigerian Army authority had placed a reward on any information that would lead to the rescue of the officer.
