The All Progressives Congress (APC) has assured Nigerians of a well-organised and transparent national convention, with preparations completed ahead of the major political event.

The party disclosed that about 8,453 delegates from across Nigeria’s 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) are expected to attend the convention scheduled for March 27 and 28 in Abuja.

Speaking at a press briefing, Minister of Information and National Orientation, Mohammed Idris,  who also serves as co-chairman of the convention’s Media and Publicity Committee, said all arrangements had been finalised.

He noted that the convention would take place at the Eagle Square, Abuja, and would feature leadership elections, policy discussions, and strategic planning for the party’s future.

Idris described the event as more than a routine political gathering, saying it represents a critical moment for reflection, decision-making, and consolidation within the ruling party.

According to him, the APC is committed to delivering a credible and orderly convention that reflects democratic principles and institutional discipline.

He emphasised that all committees involved in organising the event have completed their tasks, ensuring smooth coordination and efficiency throughout the proceedings.

The minister reiterated the party’s commitment to unity, stating that cohesion and collective responsibility remain central to APC’s continued growth.

He said the convention would also reinforce the party’s internal democracy and strengthen its structure ahead of future political engagements.

Idris highlighted the theme of the convention — “Unity in Progress, Consolidating the Renewed Hope Agenda”— describing it as a reflection of the party’s vision and direction.

He explained that the theme aligns the party’s internal processes with national governance priorities under the administration of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu

The minister commended Tinubu for his leadership and contributions to the party’s development, noting that his Renewed Hope Agenda continues to guide policy direction and national development efforts.

He added that the convention would provide an opportunity to assess achievements and align party structures with the government’s broader objectives.

Idris further stated that APC has evolved into a strong political platform capable of managing diversity and adapting to changing political dynamics.

He noted that the party’s ability to handle leadership transitions and internal processes reflects its maturity as a democratic institution.

The APC, he said, remains focused on strengthening its foundations while maintaining its position as a leading political force in Nigeria.
