APC raises alarm over 2015 polls, fears unfounded – PDP

apc_logoThe All Progressives Congress (APC), says it has uncovered a plot to destabilise the party ahead of the 2015 polls.

APC alleged in a statement in Lagos on Sunday that some moles and fifth columnists might be used to divide its ranks.

“There is a plan to destabilise the party using moles and fifth columnists; to weaken socio-cultural and socio-political organisations in South-West and in other areas.

“We have also uncovered a plot by the Peoples’ Democratic Party to rig the 2015 general elections,” it said.

The statement, signed by APC’s Interim National Publicity Secretary, Alhaji Lai Mohammed, was given to newsmen in Lagos.

The APC spokesman stressed the need for the creation of a level playing for all political parties to actualise their political aspirations.

On the 2015 polls, the statement added: “This is the time for change, and change will come.”

Reacting to the allegation, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) described it as “unfounded insinuation’’ by the APC that the PDP had perfected plans to rig the 2015 general elections.

Mr Olisa Metuh, the National Publicity Secretary of the PDP, told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Sunday in Abuja that the insinuation was “mere sophistry’’.

He said that it was all part of the failures associated with the opposition party, adding that the “APC is designed to fail’’.

“These are all excuses for the APC envisioned monumental failure in the 2015 polls.

“The APC is a media creation. They are not on ground; the statement is merely trying to justify its anticipated failure.

“The PDP is only willing to discuss the policies and programme of the government.

“Nigerians will like to know the oppositions’ alternatives to the president’s programmes.

“Let us remain focused on issues that will lead to good governance and provide dividends of democracy,’’ Metuh said.
