A senior member of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Osun State, Olatunbosun Oyintiloye, has dismissed claims that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu is responsible for the ongoing leadership crisis within the African Democratic Congress (ADC)
Speaking to journalists in Osogbo, Oyintiloye described such allegations as misleading and politically motivated.
He maintained that the internal issues facing the ADC should not be attributed to external actors, urging the party’s leadership to address its challenges independently.
According to him, President Tinubu, as a sitting leader, has no reason to interfere in the affairs of another political party.
Oyintiloye emphasised that the president remains committed to democratic principles and does not need to destabilise opposition parties ahead of the 2027 general elections.
He further clarified that recent developments affecting the ADC, including the stance of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), were based on court decisions rather than executive interference.
The APC chieftain noted that INEC’s position of not recognising any faction of the ADC stems from ongoing legal disputes currently before the courts.
He advised the ADC to resolve its internal disagreements through established mechanisms instead of engaging in blame narratives.
Oyintiloye also addressed concerns about Nigeria potentially becoming a one-party state, describing such claims as unfounded.
He pointed out that the country currently has 21 registered political parties, all expected to participate in the 2027 elections.
According to him, the presence of multiple parties reflects a functioning democratic system.
He urged opposition figures to focus on strengthening their internal structures rather than spreading misinformation about the political landscape.
