SPEECH OF THE GENERAL MANAGER, EXTERNAL RELATIONS, NLNG, MR. ANDY ODEH, AT A PRESS CONFERENCE FOR THE NIGERIA PRIZE FOR SCIENCE 2022 IN LAGOS.
Dear friends from the Media, all and sundry, welcome to The Nigeria Prize For Science 2022 press conference.
Coming together and connecting as a group or individually at any event at all usually offers me the golden opportunity to express my deepest appreciation for all you bring to the table, helping to keep Nigerians both within the shores of the continent and those in diaspora and the entire world by extension well informed.
From the very inception of the Prizes, you have been co-laborers and worthy partners on this laudable project, and your immense contribution can not be quantified. Irrespective of what we do and the effort invested, if you do not report it, no one would know about the Prizes.
Therefore, we are excited to have you here and look forward to your support for years to come.
The 2022 cycle has been very intense with 107 entries recorded, we are glad that the Panel of Judges has evaluated all the entries received and submitted their report to the Advisory Board. They in turn will inform us of the outcome shortly.
I am sure we are all looking forward to that but before that happens, let me reiterate that the dedicated website for the 3 Prizes; The Nigeria Prize for Literature, the Nigeria Prize for Literary Criticism, and the Nigeria Prize for Science remains and is the ONLY platform through which information about the Prizes, process, governance, winning works, and winners will be made readily available to members of the public.
I am sure the Board is eager to get on with the task at hand, so let me yield the lectern.
Thank you, distinguished ladies and gentlemen, of the press.
