The All Progressives Congress (APC) on Friday emphasised the need for its agents at polling booths during Saturday’s governorship election in Anambra to be vigilant.
The party made the call via a statement signed by its Interim National Publicity Secretary, Alhaji Lai Mohammed, in Abuja.
“APC agents for Saturday’s polls are expected to pay particular attention to the accreditation process.
“In line with the INEC manual for election officials, the number of accredited voters must be counted and announced loudly for all to hear.
“Also, the number of voters in the register of voters in each polling unit must be announced loudly,’’ the party said.
The APC warned its agents not to sign the result sheet without the number of voters in the register and the number of accredited voters duly recorded in the necessary columns in the forms.
The party reiterated the need for INEC and security agents to ensure that the election was free, fair and transparent.
The APC, nonetheless, debunked claims by the police that the 180 people who were recently apprehended in Imo were hoodlums.
“Those who were arrested by the police are election monitors from Osun; they are members of the Justice and Equality Organisation, an INEC-accredited election monitoring NGO,’’ the party added.
