AMVCA 2026 Cultural Night: Stars celebrate African heritage in fashion, music

Fashion, music and art took centre stage at the 2026 Africa Magic Viewers’ Choice Awards (AMVCA) Cultural Night as celebrities showcased the continent’s cultural heritage.

The colourful event, held on Friday night at the Balmoral Convention Centre, Federal Palace Hotel, Victoria Island, Lagos, had the theme: “Honouring Craft, Celebrating Culture”.

The event attracted actors, filmmakers, reality TV stars, fashion enthusiasts and other entertainment personalities who were dressed in different traditional attires to showcase the beauty of African attires.

Omowunmi Dada, Uche Jombo, Linda Ejiofor-Suleiman, Scarlet Gomez, Nnenna Mbonu, and Iyabo Ojo were among the celebrities in attendance.

Stan Nze, Bucci Franklin, Saga Adeolu, Liquorose, Neo Akpofure, and Venita Akpofure also attended in elaborate traditional attire celebrating African culture and identity.

The guests dazzled in richly designed Aso Oke, Kente, Isiagu, beaded regalia and other indigenous fabrics that reflected the diversity and creativity of African fashion..

This year’s cultural night highlighted African storytelling, creativity and heritage through fashion and entertainment.

Uti Nwakchukwu, the host of the event, described the cultural night as a celebration of African identity and storytelling beyond film and television.

He noted that the platform continues to promote unity and cultural pride while recognising the role of entertainment in preserving African traditions.

“The cultural night is a celebration of African identity and storytelling that goes beyond film and television.

“This platform continues to promote unity and cultural pride while spotlighting entertainment as a tool for preserving African traditions.

“AMVCA Cultural Night remains a powerful reminder of who we are as Africans which we express through our culture, fashion and storytelling,” he said.

The evening also featured cultural dance performances, live music, traditional cuisine and fashion displays, creating an atmosphere of glamour and heritage.

The AMVCA is regarded as one of Africa’s biggest film and television awards which celebrates excellence in African filmmaking, acting, production and storytelling.

The main awards ceremony will hold on Saturday in Lagos, where nominees across various categories are expected to compete for top honours.
