Harambee Stars coach Adel Amrouche is looking forward to Wednesday’s World Cup qualifier against African Champions Nigeria despite the absence of key players.
Stars go into the match against the Super Eagles without skipper Dennis Oliech and goalkeeper Arnold Origi who are both suspended while David Gateri and MacDonald Mariga miss out through injury.
“It will be a tough match as we are missing key players in the team but at this point we cannot think too much about them and must focus on the game. All the players have shown great ability and confidence and are ready for the match,” said Amrouche.
“We performed well in Calabar and we will carry on from there. They may have a quality squad but I’m confident that my players can match their performance on the day. This young squad can beat Nigeria. It only takes concentration and focus to execute our plan,” he said.
Amrouche added his team will not be under pressure when they face their more illustrious opponents.
“We are in the process of rebuilding a team but that doesn’t mean we should rule out our chances. We will give our best. We are not under pressure in anyway unlike them and we are ready.”
The former Burundi tactician also commented on Kenya’s chances for making it to Brazil 2014.
“This is a very open group and we can rewrite history at Kasarani. All we need to do is take each game at a time and hope to register good results on Wednesday.”
