Aluko: WSL close shave still hurts

Chelsea Ladies striker, Eni Aluko, says she’s determined to put last year’s WSL heartbreak behind her by firing the Blues to the title this term.
The London side led the standings going into the final day of the 2014 campaign, but their 2-1 defeat to Manchester City, coupled with a 3-0 victory for Liverpool against Bristol Academy, saw the Merseyside Reds retain their crown.
And Aluko, who has 89 caps for England, is looking forward to getting the disappointment out of her system.
“It (last season) does still hurt. It was one of the most painful experiences of my life but I think we will use the experience to get stronger and make sure it never happens again.
“Our aim now is to win the league. I came here to win championships and coming so close last season really motivates us.”
Emma Hayes’ side kick off their campaign against Notts County on Sunday.
And Aluko says Rick Passmoor’s outfit will provide a stern test.
“Notts County are an extremely gritty side. They are very good defensively and chances are not easy to come by but we have confidence that we can create opportunities.”
